Earthquake Code Rules Interpretation
Nonbuilding Structures and Equipment
Mechanical and Electrical Equipment Seismic Assessment
Mechanical and Electrical Equipment Attachment and Support Design
Pressure Vessel and Piping High Cyclic Load Design

PPEA associates have extensive experience with application of various dynamic analysis and damage mitigation techniques.  This experience includes design of structures and equipment for all types of dynamic loads including earthquake, fluid hammer, liquid slugging, and vibration.  It also includes participation in industrial and equipment earthquake, extreme load, and fatigue damage assessment surveys.  PPEA associates have and continue to participate in the development of regional and national earthquake guidelines and requirements for nonbuilding structures and equipment (SEAOC, UBC, NEHRP).  These guidelines and requirements are intended for existing and new structures and equipment.

CODES AND STANDARDS SERVICES

Codes and Standards Interpretations
Codes and Standards Compliance
Federal and State Safety Code Compliance

PPEA associates have over 200 committee member-years of experience in codes and standards activities.  Associates have been principally involved in the development of American Society of Mechanical Engineers codes and standards, but have also participated in the preparation of industry, state, and federally sponsored structural engineering and earthquake design codes and standards.  Associates are experienced in aiding clients interpret and comply with all types of industry and regulatory requirements, as well as assist in or provide direct contacts with code and standard committees and regulatory agencies.  In addition, PPEA networking can provide special experienced consultants in a variety of associated mechanical and structural disciplines and for specific equipment components.  PPEA associates have also developed programs and procedures for and assisted in product form testing for basic research and code compliance.  Failure modes tested for include component bursting, collapse, and fatigue.
